Le témoin observe la pleine lune à 1h du matin et voit apparaître successivement 7 boules jaune-orangé évoluant silencieusement en se suivant avant de disparaître. L'observation de boules orange se succédant selon la même trajectoire évoque nettement des lanternes thaï. Le témoin décrit un déplacement du nord-ouest vers le sud-est, assez cohérent avec le léger vent relevé à Romorantin (15 km) de secteur ouest à 1h et de nord-ouest à 2h (voir : météo). L'instant de l'observation, après la finale du mondial de football, et veille du 14 juillet, est très propice à tous types de célébrations publiques ou privées. Le témoin à qui il a été présenté divers documents, photo ou vidéo de lanternes thaï a reconnu ce type d'objets (voir mail), qu'il ne connaissait pas auparavant.
