Thursday night, my wife and I went to the Myrtle Beach boardwalk. At about 21:00 we stopped to observe the sky which had begun to clear… the weather had been hot and overcast…winds about 5 mph from the South. We were standing against a railing, looking East out over the ocean when we observed a luminous object, 2 to 3 times the diameter of any of the few visible stars… the object did not appear to have any motion or direction, was at an estimated 35 degrees above the horizon and a fairly luminous yellow color. The object “turned off” for about 20 seconds then back “on” for a few seconds. This process repeated itself over a 10 minute period or so…… after that time it or a similar object appeared to the south west…using the Easter position as 12 o’clock, the newer object was now at about 1:30…. It also turned on and of during a few minutes period of time. At about 21:15 we both observed that the light reappeared near its original location but to our surprise a second light now came on to the left side of the first, slightly lower the it and then a third and so on until seven luminous objects were present in a straight line. The line descended downward from right to left at about a 10 degree angle with the spacing between objects equal to 4 or 5 diameters of a single object. The lights “came on” at about one second intervals and as the third object illuminated we both began counting aloud, fascinated by what we were observing. After observing the group of lighted objects for about 5 to 7 seconds, I turned and asked a couple sitting on one of the boardwalk benches behind us to turn around and verify our observations…. By the time I was able to explain my request most of the objects were “off” but did come back ”on” individually. The objects continued to cycle on and off for about 30 more seconds. We continued our observations for an additional 10 minutes or so but all the object had gone “out,” and remained so. We observed no motion of any kind by the objects, no smoke trails as may be observed with flares, no sound… they appeared to be several miles distant but I had no means of determining that. For the record I complete one of these reports on the 19 of June for our observations on the 18 of June in Myrtle Beach SC…
