A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was walking my dogs at approximately 11:30 pm. The sky was clear with no cloud cover. There had been a meteor shower the previous night. So while I was walking I was looking up to see if their were any comets. While I was looking up I saw a bright orange fiery light appear in my direct line of sight. It looked high in altitude, maybe 500-1000 ft. While I stared at it with disbelief a second one appeared behind it. Then a third and a fourth. All four seemed to travel in the same direction. The first one moved on a bit faster than the rest. I recorded the incident on my iphone. I did some research on Chinese lanterns and how people mistake them for UFO. With the videos I watched I can say with certainty that these were not lanterns. They did not start as a faint light in the distant and get closer as a lantern would. The sky was clear and dark and the lights just turned on at around 1000 ft.!! After researching UFOS reported I found this website. And 4 fiery orange objects have been seen for months now all over Virginia. I'm completely clueless what these are!! Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #109755). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
