I have been having internet problems recently. On 12/17.2022, I had connectivity problems with my internet and as a result emergency services was called to my house twice for a series of alleged 911 hang-up calls. These calls coincided with a "spike" in the Spectrum Internet DOCSYS modem that provides my internet and telephone services as well as a severe degradation of my WiFi signal causing my use of a streaming service to be interrupted. The police came to my house twice asking if everything was okay. I explained that the internet was acting up and it must be an error, till it happened again a few minutes later. I called Spectrum Internet to report the anomaly and set-up a technician to come out and replace the modem. The next day, 12/18/2022 (one hour ago or so at time of writing), I started getting the same intermittent internet issues and checked the available networks that were broadcasting within range of my device. There was an open network called "Marvell" with a number I don't remember showing a signal strength higher than my own high-end gaming router's signal, which is 30 feet away from my device. This signal was stronger than any other the device could detect by far, so I thought there was someone outside since Wifi doesn't usually have such a high powered signal when coming from any amount of distance and through thick brick walls. As I walked outside, I noticed what I believe to be a drone very, very low above my house. This was larger than a Mavic drone commercially available, and was larger than most drones I have ever seen. It was huge and very close. This is NOT a report of aliens or whatever. This was obviously a drone, I have seen and flown drones, and am familiar with their shape, size, and flight characteristics. This was a drone. There were 4 white LEDs flashing in unison about once per second and the drone appeared to react to my presence by ascending quickly and leaving my house near the Cook Out restaurant and heading towards the Conover Fairgrounds about a mile away. I attempted to follow the drone barefoot, but the machine was moving too fast for me to keep up. I had hoped to follow it to it's point of origin, but was unable to keep up. After giving chase for about 2 minutes, I realized it was futile and the operator must have been farther away than I could walk as I live in a urban area, and would not have caught it for all the traffic and it's speed. I returned home and called the police to report the incident. There is a 911 call to Catawba County documented. An office came by, took a very quick verbal report and warned me against shooting at it as that was my first instinct since it seemed threatening and large enough to possibly kill someone if it struck them. The officer left quickly and I feel he was going to try and track it down. This was a very large drone, not like the expensive toys I have seen and played with, this was something different. I plan to file FOIA requests with a few agencies to see if any of them had a drone flying that night. This is a small town, and I don't feel like the cop knew about it's presence or purpose as he did seem to want to catch it too. If it wasn't the cops, and it wasn't a "normal" drone, who is operating such a device? This should be investigated as the pilot was NOT within any line-of-sight that I could see, and I looked. I wanted to follow it back to them and break it. The size and speed of this device makes it a possible lethal weapon being operated by unknown actors with an unknown intent while producing similar effects which disrupted emergency services and internet service at my house. I will swear to this in court.
