Le 10 octobre 2011 vers 6h20 un automobiliste aperçoit dans le ciel le déplacement d'une boule orangée. Le témoin photographie le phénomène lumineux qui suit alternativement une trajectoire montante puis descendante. Aucun bruit n'est entendu durant l'observation. Aucun autre témoignage ne sera recueilli sur ce phénomène. Le témoin, après avoir reçu une information au sujet des lanternes thailandaises (vidéos, photos, articles) accrédite la probabilité de cette hypothèse. Même si l'heure matinale est inhabituelle dans ce genre d'observation, cette probabilité est également retenue par le GEIPAN. Les conditions météo (vent très faible, instable) sont compatibles avec l'observation. Ce cas est classé "B" observation probable du passage d'une lanterne thaïlandaise.
