Le samedi 3 septembre 2011 aux environs de 23h15 ou 23h30, un témoin et son épouse constatent dans le ciel au-dessus de l'horizon S-O le déplacement silencieux de plusieurs points lumineux orangés. Durant l'observation d' environ 2 minutes, plusieurs autres points lumineux orangés apparaitront avec les mêmes caractéristiques de vol. De faible étrangeté et de très bonne consistance grâce à un questionnaire particulièrement détaillé, ce cas d’observation correspond très vraisemblablement à une observation de plusieurs lanternes thaï en phase d’extinction. Le témoin, informé de cette hypothèse, a visionné des photos et vidéos de lanternes et a parfaitement reconnu cet objet. Ce cas est classé A : observation de lanternes thaï.
