Un témoin rapporte son observation faite le 1er septembre 2011 à 22h35 : alors qu'il est sur sa terrasse il observe le passage Est-Ouest, rapide et silencieux de trois lumières jaunâtres. Ces lumières disparaissent derrière un nuage. L'observation de ces points jaunâtres traversant le ciel dans le sens du vent (voir meteo Lorraine) est tout à fait conforme à l'observation de lanternes thaïlandaises, lancées à l'Est de Bar le Duc (du côté du stade peut-être). Le Geipan classe ce cas "B" : observation probable de lanternes thaï. [GEIPAN classification B — Lanterne thai]
