Le vendredi 3 décembre 2010 à 19h17, un automobiliste et sa passagère constatent la présence dans le ciel d'un groupe de points lumineux de couleur blanche aux reflets violacés. Le phénomène disparaît progressivement. L'Intervenant Premier Niveau chargé d'une investigation complémentaire obtient la confirmation, auprès de la mairie de Riedisheim, que ce soir là, une association humanitaire a organisé un lâcher de "ballons lumineux". Des "bâtons" pyrotechniques (de type Blinklanzen provenant de Suisse) ont été attachés à des ballons gonflés à l'hélium. Aucune photo n'a été réalisée mais la confirmation de la mairie et les éléments délivrés ne laissent aucun doute sur l'événement en question. Le cas est donc parfaitement identifié.
