Un témoin observe depuis son balcon un phénomène insolite dans la nuit du 5 au 6 juin 2010 à minuit trente sept. Une lumière blanche, en forme de rectangle et venant des montagnes au-dessus d'Ajaccio, traverse la baie à très grande vitesse, sans faire aucun bruit et selon une trajectoire rectiligne. Les caractéristiques de l'observation (nuit du samedi/dimanche un peu après minuit, lumière blanche non éblouissante, aucun bruit, trajectoire compatible avec la direction du vent) évoquent un ballon lumineux de type lanterne thaîlandaise.
