Un témoin rapporte une observation faite le 21 janvier entre 7h42 et 7h45 : entre les pics de la Grosse Tête et du Grand Miceau, un groupe de lumières blanches et clignotantes se déplace lentement. L'ensemble disparaitra caché par le paysage. L'enquête a montré qu'un radiosondage par ballons a été lâché près de l’aéroport de St Exupéry 1h40 avant l’observation. L’hypothèse d’observation de ces ballons éclairés par le soleil levant reste la plus plausible. Ce cas est classé B : obervation probable d’un train de ballons météo.
