Le 3 janvier 2010 un témoin observe depuis son jardin le passage de trois lumières rondes juste au-dessus de lui. Aucun bruit n'est entendu. Elles disparaissent instantanément. Les caractéristiques décrites de l'observation (3 lumières rondes à faible altitude se déplaçant ensemble …puis 'disparaissant' du fait de l'extinction du carburant) ainsi que la forte présomption des premiers éléments de l'enquête de gendarmerie, correspondent à l'observation probable de lanternes volantes.
