Le 10 août 2008 le GEIPAN est contacté par téléphone par un témoin qui raconte une observation faite en présence d'autres personnes dont des gendarmes. Entre 23h et 2h17 dans la nuit du 10 au 11 août 2008 deux points lumineux, ressemblant à des étoiles font l'objet d'une observation à l'oeil nu puis aux jumelles. Le phénomène est stationnaire puis se déplace lentement. Une observation similaire dans la même direction mais un peu plus basse sur l'horizon a lieu le 22 août à 22h35. L'enquête démontrera que les témoins ont fait une observation astronomique d'Arcturus et Capella particulièrement visibles en cette période de l'année. [GEIPAN classification A — Conjonction]
