Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

Awoke at 4:00 AM and looked out bedroom window. Saw a light, circular and thought it was a star. It was a clear morning 8/22/20, quiet, and looking closer saw it was bigger and hovering, spinning. It also changed colors and went to white. It started left, right and back getting smaller. Last I looked it was 4:23 AM, so a good 24 minutes viewed. I took video with my iPhone.
