Les 5 et 6 août 1998 vers 22h30, une femme observe le passage d'une lumière blanche traversant le ciel. L'enquête montrera que la station MIR était parfaitement visible ces deux jours à l'heure de l'observation. Une expérience américaine d'avion sans pilote téléguidé par satellite a pu également être visible le 22 août. Compte tenu des observations faites, l'hypothèse de l'observation de la station MIR est retenue. [GEIPAN classification B — Phénomène identifié non indiqué]
