Le 12 novembre 1984 aux alentours de 19h plusieurs témoins ont aperçu entre 5 à 6 secondes au-dessus du littoral une boule blanche de la grosseur d'un ballon de foot-ball avec une queue rouge vif de 2 mètres environ. Le déplacement de ce phénomène était lent, sans bruit et à basse altitude selon une trajectoire rectiligne. Ce phénomène présente les caractéristiques d'une rentrée atmosphérique.
