Le 18 novembre 1983 entre 18h et 19 h plusieurs témoins en Moselle ont aperçu durant quelques secondes un phénomène lumineux dans le ciel. Une boule, de la grosseur d'un ballon de football et de couleur orangé, a traversé le ciel sans bruit mais en laissant derrière elle une longue trainée colorée.
