Le 31 mai 1979 à 0h 40 deux personnes vont observer un phénomène lumineux au plein Ouest dans le ciel. Durant plusieurs minutes, un objet volumineux en forme de croissant et de couleur orangé. Un autre objet est également apparu quelques instants. La carte du ciel ce matin là indique plein Ouest la présence de Jupiter (magnitude -1,49), Pollux (magnitude 0,98) et un coucher de la Lune (magnitude-9,51).
