Le 11 janvier 1979 vers 6h 45, un témoin aperçoit depuis une fenêtre un objet qui l'intrigue. Au-dessus d'une route, un objet ovale se déplace sans faire de bruit. Cet objet comporte dans sa partie inférieure six feux fixes de couleur rouge et vert. Au centre un feu jaune émet une lumière forte. Cet objet se déplace d'Est en Ouest à une vitesse réduite. D'après l'enquète le témoin a vu un avion de ligne FBOOM bimoteur qui a atteri à 6h 42 pour redécoller à 6h 59 de l'aérodrome de Brive tout proche.
