On the night of 15 July 2019, off San Diego amid a series of multi-ship drone incursions around the Pacific littoral fleet, sailors in the combat information center of USS Omaha recorded an infrared video of a dark spherical object pacing the ship. The footage — released in 2021 by filmmaker Jeremy Corbell — ends with the object appearing to descend to the ocean surface and vanish, a crew member remarking that it 'splashed.' A companion radar clip shows the CIC tracking the contact. Search assets reportedly recovered no wreckage.
The Pentagon confirmed the videos were taken by Navy personnel and stated the incidents were included in the UAP Task Force's ongoing examinations; no resolution has been published.
